One day, Gizella Weisz (Mari Nagy) is told that she will be appointed to “the section” thanks to the merits she has shown so far, and she must take up her new post immediately. This sparks the grotesque journey of the heroine, during which we want to know less and less about exactly where this adventure will end. This film by Péter Gothár based on the short story by Ádám Bodor has a remarkable atmosphere and was deservedly lavished with prizes. The world created by the author, which is both specifically Eastern European and universal, is perfectly captured under the experience hand of Gothár, resulting in one of the most noir-humoured road movies of the post-Kádár years.
